In the smallest region of Italy borders with France and Switzerland

La Source

La Source winery was founded in 2003 from the experience and passion of a group of young farmers, descendants of Aosta Valley families dedicated to agriculture for generations. The company takes its name from the small spring that was found when we built the cellar; source in French in fact means the source.

It is located in Saint Pierre, a few steps from the Castle of the same name and not far from the Sarriod de la Tour Castle.

Currently the company is owned by the Celi-Cuc family and Stefano Celi is its soul,
descendant of a family that for generations has dedicated itself to agriculture in the Aosta Valley. Stefano has always been a part-time farmer and he has dedicated himself full-time to agricultural and particularly vine-growing activities since 2005.

The estate has 9.5 hectares of vineyards, located between 650 m. and 900 meter above s.l., which are cultivated with international vines: Syrah, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Moscato and Traminer, Petite Arvine and indigenous vines: Petit Rouge, Fumin, Premetta, Cornalin and Vien de Nus. The vineyards are located close to the cellar, in one of the most suitable areas of the Aosta Valley, called Torrette (a headland).

The Torrette area is equally divided between the two mountain sides.
The typical training system is the row in counter-espalier, that has completely replaced the ancient alberate system.
The entire area is covered by the Petit Rouge vine, which is well suited to the territory thanks to its remarkable tolerance to cold and drought.

The main and renowned red wine that originates from Petit Rouge vine is Torrette, which takes its name from this homonymous headland straddling the villages of Saint-Pierre and Sarre.
On the headland thanks to the altitude, the full southern exposure, the low temperature mitigated by rocks and the deep reservoirs, the habitat is perfect for viticulture.
